Area track stars get seats on bus to state

Brillion’s Hunter Krepline took two championships at the WIAA Division 2 Sectional in Freedom on Thursday, and Wrightstown’s Annika Opichka took one title. They were the only area track and field athletes to advance to the State Championships in La Crosse with sectional titles.

Four Brillion athletes advanced to state, with Emily Cohen having it in two events. Opichka was the Tigers’ lone state qualifier.

In Division 3, there were no local sectional champions. Hilbert/Stockbridge distance runner Reegan Aguilar took second in the 3,200.

Reedsville led the area schools with five individuals qualifying for state, and two relay team also qualifying.

  1. 300H – 4, Laney Halbach, Hilbert/Stockbridge

Princeton Sectional

Boys:

  1. 110H – 3, Cade Hafkey, Reedsville; 4, Brennen Dvorachek, Reedsville

  2. 4x200R – 3, Reedsville

  3. PV – 3, Noah Roffers, Reedsville

Girls:

  1. 400 – 4, Makayla Junk, Reedsville

  2. 300H – 3, Katlyn Larson, Reedsville

  3. 4x400R – 3, Reedsville
