BRILLION - The Ariens Nordic Center's grand opening has been postponed with a date to be determined.
The all-world site for Nordic skiing and other winter activities has now twice delayed its grand opening. The winter weather has not cooperated with higher-than-normal winter temperatures and rain.
The center is putting focus into snowmaking and trail grooming so the conditions for skiing are as good as possible.
The grand opening was first scheduled for the Jan. 6 weekend then delayed until the Jan. 13 weekend before being called off for now.
Ariens Nordic Center is located at 1111 Round Lake Road in Brillion and has been planned for years. Construction took place over the last year on the site that will hold Olympic training for the U.S. biathlon team. The center includes a 20-point target system, which is part of the biathlon sport.
The center will offer year-round facilities with lighted trails for skiing and a paved loop for roller-skiing.
