OMAHA – The pharmacy in the Brillion Shopko Hometown store was acquired by Walgreen’s at an auction held in Chicago on January 23.
The sale included all of the pharmaceutical inventory as well as all prescription files and records, pharmacy customer lists and patient profiles, according to papers filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday, January 25.
The two big bidders at the auction were Walgreen’s and CVS Pharmacies, the two national chains that dominate the retail prescription drug industry.
Walgreen’s spokesman Phil Caruso said the prescription files from the Brillion Shopko store will go to Walgreen’s Pharmacy at 201 E. Ann St. in Kaukauna as of February 5. Patients do not need to take any action. They will also receive information in the mail and Walgreen’s will offer U.S. Mail delivery of prescriptions and prescription refills to Brillion customers.
