Braun celebrating 10 years of Deer Run

BRILLION – Glen Braun has been at the helm of Braun’s Deer Run Golf Course and Restaurant since May 1, 2013. This Saturday, July 1, he’s having a big 10-year anniversary party to celebrate.

The annual free fireworks show is Saturday night. Food and drinks start at 6 p.m. Sammy Llanas, the former lead singer of the Bo Deans, will perform from 7-11 p.m. The golf course will close at 5 p.m. so attendees can find a spot on the lawn.

“Just keep trying to do stuff for the community,” Braun said.

Also officially opening on Saturday at 8 a.m., is the new mini golf course. It’s a project that has taken almost two years from conception to completion.

In order to have the mini golf course on site, Braun purchased a piece of land so he could move a house onto it. The course is now where the house used to be. That was all approved through the City of Brillion, including sewer and water hookups for the house.

“There was a lot of planning with the city and plus with moving a house, and there’s a lot of permits and things that needed to be done first so there was a lot of planning,” Braun said.

The mini golf course had a soft opening this week and July 1 will be the official kickoff.

“Just a couple little finishing touches to do … Other than that, the course is playable,” Braun said.

Braun said the early feedback has been positive.

“They love it. It looks like it should have been there a long time ago … It’s going to look really nice, the beautiful pond, the woodwork, the rocks and then the flower gardens … It’ll be very fun and enjoyable and challenging. It’s not that easy to do, so it’s fun for everybody from the grandkids to the grandparents,” Braun said.
