BRILLION - For the third straight season, the Brillion girls basketball team is atop the Eastern Wisconsin Conference.
The girls are 18-4 overall this season with a perfect 13-0 record within the conference.
On Tuesday night, the Lions beat Valders 62-50 to clinch conference. On Friday night, they continued the conference win streak with a 69-54 home win against Chilton.
"Honestly, it's really accomplishing it as a team," senior Maya Emmer said. "That was always our goal every year, was to get the conference (championship) and having it three out of the four years of me being on varsity is just like really cool, I guess, as a player and a good accomplishment (as a team)."
Winning conference multiple seasons in a row has put a target on Brillion's back, but they keep beating the competition.
"We're the team that every team wants to beat, so we have to come every game with our A-game," Emmer said.
Against Chilton, the Lions fell behind 22-4 then went on a 48-10 run to close the first half and into the second half to take a 52-32 lead.
"We've gotta start every game really tough and go at it because if we let our guard down, teams can come at us pretty good," Emmer said.
Megan Schuman led the Lions with 16 points. Camden Hale chipped in 11. Nine players scored in total.
Brillion wraps up the regular season with a game at Wrightstown on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and a home game against Two Rivers on Thursday, Feb. 16.
The regional round of the playoffs is on Feb. 21, Feb. 24 and Feb. 25. Playoff seedings will be announced this Sunday.
