CHILTON – Calumet County Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Froehlich ordered a 29-year old Brillion man held in lieu of $20,000 cash bond after he was charged Monday with two felony charges and one misdemeanor in connection with a domestic violence situation.

Henry Ricardo Ortega-Estrada, of 211 S. Glenview Avenue, made his initial appearance in court on Monday.

He requested a preliminary hearing, which was set for Tuesday, January 14, at 10:30 a.m. before Judge Gary Sharpe.

According to court records, Ortega-Estrada was charged with felony strangulation and suffocation, felony substantial battery-intending bodily harm, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct in connection with an incident on December 29, 2019.

All three charges were filed with “domestic abuse” penalty enhancers.

Court records said that the office of State Public Defender will appoint legal counsel for Ortega-Estrada.

In addition to the bond requirement, Ortega-Estrada is jailed under a detention order from the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
