TOWN OF KOSSUTH - A 70-year old man from Tinley Park, Illinois, was killed around 8:15 a.m. on Monday, November 15, in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of the southbound off=-ramp from I-43 and Manitowoc County K, about two miles east of Kellnersville.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig said it happened when the Illinois man, driving a Ford Ranger pickup, failed to stop for the stop sign at the end of the off-ramp. His vehicle was struck by a 2007 Sterling truck, which was eastbound on K and operated by a 67-year old man from the Whitelaw area.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered force trauma and head injuries in the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
The driver of the other truck was not injured.
Responding to the scene were the Francis Creek, Kellnersville and Menchalville fire departments; Manitowoc Fire & Rescue; Kellnersville EMS first responders; the Manitowoc County Highway Department; Hi-Way 42 Garage; sheriff's deputies and the coroner's office.
The sheriff expressed his agency's deepest condolences to all affected by the tragic crash.
