MADISON – Governor Scott Walker has issued an order to fly flags at half staff to honor and remember fallen firefighters.
In part, the executive order issued on October 13 reads:
WHEREAS, Fire Prevention Week began October 9, 2016; and WHEREAS, Wisconsin Firefighters Memorial Day is October 15, 2016; and WHEREAS, Wisconsin Firefighters Memorial Day is an opportunity for the people of Wisconsin to remember and pay respect to the many courageous firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty; and WHEREAS, we honor and recognize the thousands of full-time and volunteer firefighters who proudly demonstrate courage, determination, and professionalism across Wisconsin today and every day, putting their own safety at risk to protect their neighbors and communities from harm;
NOW THEREFORE, I, SCOTT WALKER, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by federal and state law, do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the State of Wisconsin equipped with such flags, beginning at sunrise on Saturday, October 15, 2016, and ending at sunset on that date.
