GLENBEULAH – Wisconsin Sixth District Congressman, R-Glenbeulah, said the national news media is burying stories where Christians are being killed because of their religious beliefs.

The congressman cited a terrorist attack that took place in Burkina Faso, in north central Africa, where radical Islamic terrorists open-fired on a Catholic parade, killing four adults.

“Over the weekend, a terrorist open-fired upon a Catholic church in Burkina Faso, killing six. This is the country’s second attack in as many weeks.”  said Grothman. “My prayers are with the people of Burkina Faso and everyone affected by senseless violence based on religion.

The congressman’s office said that Burkina Faso is one of the several North African countries being invaded by radical Islamic terrorists. Religious attacks are on the rise worldwide, and in the Middle East and North Africa, Christians are suffering dearly.

Grothman’s office said the problem will only worsen when governments, like those of Iran and Sudan, actively villanize and arrest Christians. There is no religious group persecuted in more countries than Christians.

“The lack of media attention on these attacks is, frankly, embarrassing. There is clearly a group of people being attacked and oppressed by other groups and governments, but when you turn on the news at night or open the paper, there’s not a word about it,” Grothman said. “I condemn these attacks in the strongest way possible. I also believe that if journalists truly believe that sunlight is the best disinfectant, then they should focus their attention on these attacks that are taking too many innocent lives.”
