The Hilbert girls' volleyball team and the Wrightstown boys' soccer team survived regional semifinal games on Thursday, October 21, to advance to regional championships on Saturday, October 23.
The Tigers' soccer team beat Kohler in a wild game that went through two overtime periods and then went into a tie-breaking shootout in the dark, where the Tigers won 4-3 when senior goalkeeper Austin Klein stopped two Kohler shots on goal in the best of five eliminator.
Wrightstown and Kohler had played to a 1-1 tie before heading to OT and the shootout.
The Tigers advance and play Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran, the state's third-ranked Division 4 team, at 1 p.m. Saturday. It will be played at Sheboygan County Christian High School.
Take the State 28 exit from I-43, heading east on Washington Avenue to 9th Street, then south one block on 9th to Sheboygan County Christian High School. The soccer field is located just south of the school parking lot, which runs off Greenfield Avenue.
The Wolves advanced to the WIAA Division 4 regional volleyball championship after beating Green Bay NEW Lutheran 3-0 on Thursday at Hilbert. Game scores were Hilbert 25-23, 25-15, 25-23 NEW Lutheran.
Hilbert advance to host Plainfield Tri-County at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tri-County beat Valley Christian 3-1, winning three straight after losing the first game 23-25.
The two area teams in WIAA Division 3 volleyball both lost on Thursday in the regional semifinals.
Oostburg edged Brillion 3-2, losing the first two games and then coming back to take three straight to advance to the regional championship Saturday at Manitowoc Lutheran.
Howards Grove, the #1 seed in the Williams Bay sub-sectional, beat Reedsville 3-0 on Thursday, and will host Valders Saturday for the regional championship.
