BRILLION – Brennen Kleist burst through the line of scrimmage and sprinted 63 yards to score on the first play of Thursday night’s game between Brillion and Chilton. It was just the first highlight play of many for the Lions in a 35-7 conference win.

Everyone got in on the fun for Brillion. Quarterback Joe Shimek threw touchdown passes to Heath Cousin and Kleist. Hayden Cousin scored two touchdown runs.

Chase Thibodeau and Weston Schmidt also had big runs for Brillion’s offense.

Gavin McGrath completed all five of his extra point attempts to begin a running clock with the Lions up 35-0. Chilton got on the board with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

“I thought we came out ready to play. I thought that was one thing we continued to build on this year. We started slow, I would say, the first two games. I thought we started out right away today and we stayed consistent with it,” Coach Tanner Behnke said.

Brillion improved to 3-0 on the season and will play at Kiel next Friday, Sept. 13. Kiel is 2-0 and will play Roncalli on Friday night.

Complete football coverage will be in the print edition of the newspaper.
