TOWN OF WOODVILLE - A 21-year old man working on a logging operation in the Town of Woodville on Wednesday morning, February 9, was rescued after he was critically injured in an accident in the woods west of Marx Road and south of Harvestore Road.
Calumet County Sheriff's Lt. Eric Voland said the victim was struck by a tree while in woods almost a half mile from the nearest road.
"Deputies and First Responders immediately began navigating their way through the difficult terrain, which included muddy fields, swampy areas, and the woods, in order to render aide to the victim," Voland said.
The incident began shortly after 10:30 a.m. when the victim called for help. The Calumet County Sheriff's Department Communications Center pinpointed his location by GPS coordinates and dispatched deputies, EMS First Responders and firefighters from Harrison and Potter.

They used off-road ATV's to access the thick woods and found the injured man.
The EMS personnel request a helicopter for the victim, but none were able to fly due to atmospheric and weather conditions.
The man was brought out to Harvestore Road by ATV and transferred to a waiting ambulance and transported to the ThedaCare Neenah Regional Trauma Center.
