MEQUON - Jeremy Lorenz is the new all-time leading scorer in Brillion boys basketball history.

The six-foot-eight senior broke the mark during Wednesday afternoon's win against Kettle Moraine Lutheran at the WBY Shootout at Concordia University in Mequon.

Lowell Reese had been the record holder since 1962, when he graduated with 1,554 points. He played for the Lions from 1959-1962 and helped the Lions win their first conference championship in school history in 1962.

On Wednesday, Lorenz made two free throws, the first to tie the record and the second to move ahead of Reese. The game was momentarily stopped to recognize Lorenz's accomplishment.

Lorenz has scored at a rapid pace since his freshman season when he averaged 13.8 points per game. His sophomore and junior seasons he averaged 19.0 and 19.8 points. This season, he has averaged more than 20 points per game.

Last season, he scored 575 points in 29 games and led Brillion to a state tournament appearance in Madison. The 575 points were the most in a single season in program history. Dick Eickert scored 528 in 1955.

Lorenz is committed to play collegiately at Wofford University, which will make him the first Division I player in Brillion boys history.
