Jeremy Lorenz will now play his NCAA Division I basketball games closer to his hometown Brillion.
Lorenz committed to the DePaul University program on Monday. The Blue Demons play their home games at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
The 6-8 Brillion alum spent his first two college seasons with Wofford University in Spartanburg, S.C. In March, Lorenz had an impressive showing in the NCAA tournament in the Terriers’ loss to Tennessee before entering the transfer portal.
He finished his sophomore season at Wofford averaging 8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
It was reported by college basketball sites that Lorenz had a long list of teams contact him once he entered the transfer portal. Lorenz said in a message to The Brillion News that it was a difficult decision.
"But once I felt good about what they had to offer that I am looking for as a player, it felt too good to pass up with the location and being in the Big East," Lorenz said.
The teams Lorenz will compete against in his new conference includes Marquette in Milwaukee. The Blue Demons are coached by Chris Holtmann, who previously coached Ohio State for seven seasons.
Lorenz won the Division 3 state championship with Brillion in 2023, is the boys’ all-time leading scorer and is the only former Brillion boys basketball player to reach the Division I level.
