KELLNERSVILLE - A 78-year old man from rural Whitelaw was found dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash in the Town of Kossuth, near Kellnersville, on Wednesday morning.
The Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center sent sheriff's deputies and emergency medical personnel to the single vehicle crash shortly before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9.
The crash involved a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup headed north on County T, between Branch and Kellnersville.
"As the vehicle was approaching Shimon Road, it proceeded into the east ditch, struck a wooden livestock fence, and collided with a power pole," Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig said in a written statement.
The pole broke where it was struck and the truck continued about 240 feet into a field before coming to a rest.
The driver was alone in the truck and was dead at the scene.
Responding to the scene were sheriff's deputies, the Kellnersville Fire Department,. Kellnersville EMS first responders, Manitowoc Fire & Rescue, the Manitowoc County Coroner's office and Wisconsin Public Service. PK's Auto also assisted. The county joint dispatcher center coordinated the responses of emergency workers.
The man's name is being withheld for now. The crash remains under investigation.
"On behalf of the Sheriff's Office, I would like to offer our deepest condolences at all those affected by this tragic incident," Hartwig said
