MANITOWOC - The S.S. Badger, the car ferry steam ship that plies Lake Michigan between the ports of Manitowoc and Ludington, has been sold.
The new owner is Ohio-based Interlake Holding Company.

On December 30, Interlake announced that it bought the assets of Pere Marquette Shipping and the Lake Michigan Car Ferry Company.
Included in the purchase are the Badger – a passenger and vehicle ferry – and the Undaunted-Pere Marquette 41, an articulated tug-barge crafted from the hull of the old car ferry City of Midland 41.
With the acquisition of those two ships, Interlake created a new entity, Interlake Maritime Services, to manage the Badger and Pere Marquette, the Interlake Steamship Company, and its fleet of nine freighters.
~ A complete story, including the new owners' plans for the Badger, will appear in the January 7 print edition of THE BRILLION NEWS.
