Obituary: Bergetta Bubolz

Bergetta Bubolz, age 91, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024 at Brillion Westhaven.  

 




Bergetta was born on August 17, 1932 in Hilbert, daughter of the late Arno and Elsa Behnke.  She was a graduate of Reedsville High School, class of 1949.  Bergetta met Gerhard Bubolz in high school, their first date being the Christmas Dance in 1946.  Here Gerhard taught Bergetta how to polka, and they never stopped dancing together.  They were married as high school sweethearts on June 2, 1951, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage together before Gerhard passed away on September 14, 2021.  Bergetta and Gerhard owned and operated a dairy farm until they sold it to their nephew, Scott in 1988.  Then she worked at the Brillion Canning Factory and Sell-Even until her retirement.  She enjoyed gardening, volunteering at church in the Ladies Aide and serving school lunch, dancing polkas with Gerhard, traveling to all 50 states, and spending time with her family.  

 

Bergetta is survived by nieces and nephews: Fredrick “Fritz” (Omi) Mahnke, Mareolin (Norman) Kuske, Brian (Susie) Bubolz, Cindy (“Muzzy”) Isajiw, and Scott (Cindy) Bubolz; great nieces, great nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Fred & Amanda (Haback) Bubolz; one brother: Paul Behnke; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Lorena (Paul) Mahnke and Karl Bubolz; two sisters-in-law: Ruth Bubolz and Carol Bubolz; and great-nephew: Corey Bubolz.  

 

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsville.  Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Mahnke and Rev. Darin Aden.  Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

 

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday morning at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
