Emily Ann (Geiger) Reis, age 84 of Brillion, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Emily was born on September 9, 1938 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Peter P. and Mary Agnes (Hoffman) Geiger. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Brillion and graduated with the class of 1956 from Brillion High School. She was united in marriage to Ronald Reis on September 25, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brillion. The couple enjoyed 66 years of life, love and hard work and were blessed with eight children.
In 1983 Emily went back to work as a Secretary/Receptionist at the Two Rivers School District until her retirement in 2005. She was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church Maple Grove receiving the St. Patrick’s Parish appreciation award in 1992 and continuing member ship into Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion when it was formed. When at St. Patrick’s she started the Religious Ed. Program for the Developmentally Disabled and later helped coordinate the Green Bay Diocese Retreats for Adults with Cognitive Disabilities for 35 years. Emily was a member of the Christian Mothers and Ladies Sodality at Holy Family, worked as Faith Formation Secretary, and organist for 40 years. Emily enjoyed helping at Patrick’s Patches, leading the Rosary at West Haven, camping, playing cards, gardening, sewing, baking, and dancing.
She is survived by her loving husband Ron, her children: Charles (DeLaine) Reis of Valders, Patricia (Dale) Borchardt of Reedsville, Steven (Dona Nie) Reis of Brillion, Jeffrey (Darla) Reis of Crowley, TX, Kevin (Debarah) Reis of Manitowoc, Ann (Geoffrey) Braden of Kaukauna, Amy (Joey) Eake of Appleton and Terrence (Jodi) Reis of Trinity, FL; eighteen grandchildren: Kelly (Rob) Engblade, Amanda (David Cookle) Reis, Jacquelyn (Josh) Starr, Jeremy (Clarissa) Reis, Kathryn (Craig) Zuleger, Kilynn (Rick) Salazar, Jill (Abe) Hassemer, Sarah (Shannon ) Gilbertson, Jason (Deidre) Reis, Jennifer (Rob Schroth) Reis, Ashley (Dave) Gauger, Tiffany Reis, Dillon Reis (Abby Jeffcoat), Cassandra (Rob) Belter, Alyxandria (Tyler) Schmitt, Mikayla (Hunter Hagemann) Busse, Rachel Reis, Trevor Reis and twenty-seven great grandchildren: Collin Reis, Alyjha, Korey, Alyvia Bloedorn, Jaxson and Reid Dobrzynski, Trenton and McKenna Reis, Cora, Clara and Crista Zuleger, Danielle, Amber and Henry Hassemer, Savannah, Addison and Lilly Reis, Grayson, Gabriella and Gage Vogt, Amelia and Eloise Gauger, Ava and Evelyn Reis, Oden & Nash Belter, Michael and Zackary Schmitt.
She is further survived by brothers John Geiger, Vernon (Pam) Geiger, Raphael (Maxine) Geiger and sister Mary Lois Huybers; sisters-in-law Janice Rahn, Janet Miller, Claire Dietrich, Helen (Len) Fox, and Judy Reis. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter P. and Mary Agnes Geiger, father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Clara Reis, brothers Richard Geiger, Peter T. (Peg) Geiger, Simon and Floyd Geiger, sister Geraldine Gabres, sister-in-laws Leona Geiger, Patricia Blonde, Jeanette Hoffman and brothers-in-laws Richard Reis, Raymond Sheahan, Willie Rahn, Arnold Miller, Leo Dietrich and Jerome Reis.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Pomeroy, Deacon Greg Van Thiel and Deacon Steve Letourneaux with burial to follow at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery, Brillion.
Friends may call on Sunday (TODAY), September 25, 2022 at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Monday morning at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
