Florence Irene Moede, age 95 of Brillion, died on Wednesday August 2, 2017 at Garrow Villa in Brillion.
She was born on September 19, 1921 in Brown County, daughter of the late Arthur August and Alma (Felz) Peper. On May 29, 1943, Florence married Ralph Moede, he preceded her in death on July 26, 2001. Florence was a telephone operator for the Rockland Telephone Co. in her in-laws home for 10 years and then in her own home 17 years. Later, she was the manager of a group home for Manitowoc County Human Services for 30 years, retiring in 2001. She also did volunteer work in the gift shop at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Florence was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion, Maple Rock Homemakers, a former member of Zion United Methodist Church in Reedsville where she taught Sunday school, was active in the United Methodist Women and held various offices, the Church Women United Calumet County and was a Band Booster Mother for Reedsville High School for 16 years.
Survivors include her children, Rev. William (Darlene) Moede of Alabama, John Moede of Reedsville, Dr. A.J. (Jane) Moede of Tennessee, Rachel Gilbertson of Reedsville, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, a sister Grace (Ralph) Bernhardt of Manitowoc, a sister-in-law Eve Andrews of AZ, extended family, Jim (Patty) Denk and family of Pine River WI Carolyn Kienbaum and son of St. Paul MN, foster sons Jim Kralovetz and family of Two Rivers, Brian Sprang and family of Two Rivers and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, a grandson Joshua Moede, a son-in-law Carl Gilbertson, 2 sisters, Bernice Meyer and Priscilla Helwig, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard (Ruth) Moede and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Denver (Ruth Ann) Moede and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion. The Rev. Tom Williams will officiate. Entombment will be at Knollwood mausoleum in Manitowoc. Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
