Obituary: George D Dessart, Jr.

George D. Dessart, Jr., age 79, of Brillion, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, October 11, 2024 at his home.

George was born on July 14, 1945 in Sturgeon Bay, son of the late George D. Dessart Sr. and Caroline Charles.  He attended a high school in Green Bay and enlisted in the United States Army, serving our country in Africa during the Vietnam War Era as part of the 82nd Airborne Division.  On March 16, 2001, he married Debra Haese at the Calumet County Courthouse.  George was a truck driver for 45 years.  His last employer before retirement was with Rick & Lori Endries, Endries Trucking out of Kiel.  Previously, he was employed at Nestle’s in Hilbert.  George lived in California for a time and was an active member of the VFW Post 3752 in Whittier, California.  He enjoyed playing sheephead and cribbage, shaking dice, watching Nascar and horse racing, and was a true animal lover.  George was always “adopting” stray cats and always had dogs in their home.  He spoiled his two American Eskimo dogs: Trumper and Lucky, any chance he got.

He loved his wife, Debra; and children and families: son: George III (Kimberly) and grandchildren: Matthew, Marissa (Mason); son: Shon-tay (Erica) and grandchildren: Dillion, Kareah; one great-grandchild and one on the way; mother of George and Shon-tay: Anita Shaw-Bastian; step-children: Keith (Donna) and Dawn (Scott); step grandchildren: Cuyler, Katelynn, Devon, Nathaniel, Megken, Kaelle, Summer, Cassie, Cameron, and Carter; mother-in-law: Nancy Haese; one brother and in-laws: Donald (Dolores); Donald (Susan) Haese, Daniel (Theresa) Haese; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Shirley, Jean, and Ken; father-in-law: Carlton Haese; and other relatives.

Per George’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, especially nurse Terry; and to Hometown Pharmacy, especially Sean McKinney for all of their care and compassion not only shown to George, but to us as well.

The Pielhop Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.  Online condolences may be made www.pielhopwieting.com
