OBITUARY: Gerhard H. Bubolz

Gerhard H. Bubolz, age 93, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay.

Gerhard was born on September 4, 1928 on the home farm in the town of Maple Grove, son of the late Fred and Amanda (Haback) Bubolz. He was a graduate of St. John St. James Lutheran School, class of 1943 and Reedsville High School, class of 1947. Gerhard met Bergetta Behnke in high school, and their first date was the Christmas Dance of 1946. Here he taught her how to polka, and the couple never stopped. Gerhard married his high school sweetheart on June 2, 1951, and the couple just celebrated 70 years of marriage. He and Bergetta owned and operated a dairy farm until they sold it to their nephew Scott in 1988. That didn’t stop Gerhard from working for Scott and showing up to help. He and Bergetta also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and spending time with their family.

Gerhard is survived by his wife, Bergetta of Reedsville; one brother: Karl Bubolz of Brillion; their nieces and nephews: Fredrick “Fritz” (Omi) Mahnke, Mareolin (Norman) Kuske, Brian (Susie) Bubolz, Cindy (“Muzzy”) Isajiw, and Scott (Cindy) Bubolz; great nieces, great nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arno and Elsa Behnke; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Lorena (Paul) Mahnke and Paul Behnke; and two sisters-in-law: Ruth Bubolz and Carol Bubolz.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel, town of Kossuth. Officiating will be the Rev. Darin Aden. Entombment will follow.
