Harold F. “Dusty” Sippel, age 86, of Appleton and longtime resident of Hilbert went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
He was born June 9, 1936 in Marytown, son of the late August & Isabella (Lefeber) Sippel. He married Carol Beil on October 1, 1960; she preceded him in death in January of 2000. On September 4, 2010, Dusty married Marlene Brosman who preceded him in death in December of 2021
Following his graduation from New Holstein High School, Dusty proudly served in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge and return to Wisconsin, he began his over 40 year working career at Tecumseh Motors in New Holstein. He and Carol also owned and operated Sippel's Drive-In on Highway 57 in Hilbert for 30 years.
Dusty was well known as a “joiner” who took time to serve and volunteer anywhere he could. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert and dedicated numerous hours with the Hilbert Lions Club and made sure to help set up the Lions Park for events. Dusty was very civic minded; he served as the President of the Hilbert Village Board and dedicated years volunteering with the fire department. He never passed up an opportunity to serve others and make the world around him better.
He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and enjoyed time catching shows at the Fireside and traveling.
Dusty is survived by his children: Denise (Michael) Bolwerk, Patrick Sippel, Scott (Kim) Sippel, Chad Sippel; Marlene’s children: Mark, Steven, David & Carl Brosman; 5 grandchildren: Shane, Alex, Ashley, Victoria, Danielle; his great-grandchildren: Devontay, Kayshaun, Arianna, Bella, Craig, Ataya, Nova, and Jalen. He is further survived by his siblings: Erma Danner, Mary Anne (Howard) Meyer, Dianne (Ronald) Reese, Jeanne (Gary) Anderson, Donald (Helen) Sippel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dusty was preceded in death by his parents; his wives: Carol and Marlene; and his siblings: Tharcilla Matznick, Bernice Simon and Lillian Sippel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, March 24, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A time of visitation will take place at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023 and on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. A Parish Vigil Service will take place at the funeral home at the close of visitation on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
