Obituary: Harry R. Kwasny, Sr.

Harry R. Kwasny, Sr., age 91, of Brillion, passed away late Monday evening, June 10, 2024 at his home.




Harry was born on January 24, 1933 in Stiles, WI., son of the late Joseph and Verna (Bellow) Kwasny. He was a graduate of Freedom High School and joined the United States Navy when he was 19 years old. In his high school years, Harry worked on a local farm. When he returned from serving his country, he went to work at Brillion Iron Works where he stayed until his retirement. Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing on Lake Michigan and just being outside. He and Nancy would take rides around the block which they called their “safari” or “naturing”. 

Survivors include his significant other: Nancy Schaefer, Brillion; son: Harry (Cindy) Kwasny, Jr., Cato, and their children: Kayla (Michael) Dahleen, great grandchildren: Isaac and Alex, Amber (Marta) Kwasny; son: Kevin (Judy) Kwasny, Amberg, and their children: Jessica (Joey) Irish; great grandchildren: Sage and Silas, Kristine (Alejandro) Gutirrez, great grandchildren: Savanah and Kevin; daughter: Catherine (David) Yadro, Eagle River, and their children: Trenton (Bryce Remy) Yadro, great grandchild: Raegan, Dustin (Hannah) Yadro, great grandchildren: Parker and Emmary, Christian (fiancée Meghan) Yadro, son: Dennis (Kathy) Kwasny, Wausau, and their children: Nichole Kwasny, great grandchildren: Rylee and Nolan, Brendon(significant other Chelsey)  Kwasny, great grandchild: Scott; son: Scott (Kathy) Kwasny, Brillion, and their children: Kendall (Ryan) Vesta, great grandchildren: Beckham and Henrik, Amber (significant other Phil) Chapin, great grandchild: Jordyn; Nancy’s children: the late Mike (Heather) Geiger and their daughter Natasha, Thomas Geiger, Debra Geiger and her children: Travis, Amber and Betsy, James (Janet) Geiger, Bonnie (Peter) Steiner and their two children Collin and Reegan; his sister: Marie Figlinski; one sister-in-law: Diane Kwasny; Nancy’s siblings: Dave Jacobs, Janet Kennedy and Linda Schmidt; other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Brian Kwasny; brothers: Edward, Joseph and Jackie Kwasny; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Mary (Bob) LeCount-Tucker and Bob Figlinski; mother of his children: Beverly Kwasny-Rolfs; Nancy’s sister: Pat Barker.

Private family services will be held and burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Town of Kossuth.  Military Rites will be accorded VFW Post 659 of Manitowoc.
