John David McClain, David, as everyone knew him, age 77, of Brillion, WI, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
David was born on March 6, 1944 at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, the son of the late John L and Sue (Flynn) McClain. He was a graduate of Enka High School, Asheville, North Carolina. David went on to further his education at North Carolina State University receiving a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Business Administration. He started his career at Owens-Illinois followed by the position of General Manager at Bell Foundry. In July 1980, he became Vice President and General Manager at Urick Foundry Company in Erie, PA where he met his wife, Judith (Judi) Ticknor. In 1985, David took the position of Vice President of Manufacturing at Brillion Iron Works in Brillion, WI. David then became President of the company in November 1994. Following retirement in 2007, he and Judi started Contract Property Maintenance. David enjoyed volunteering. He loved animals and became a prominent part in the operations of Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton, WI. He enjoyed reading, traveling and he was a Green Bay Packer fan. His favorite hobby, however, was cooking – he was an excellent chef.
David is survived by his loving wife, Judi; three children, Davey McClain, Christina McClain (Matt Schultz) and Jacqueline McClain (Jose Mercado) and grandchildren: Miles, Mika, Mia and Preston. Plus, Judi’s children; Tami (Mike) Pedersen, their children, Zachary and Lauren, and Daryl (Trisha) Ticknor. Brothers-in-law: Robert (Nikki) Baldwin and Richard (Sheila) Baldwin and other relatives and many friends. David was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law Robert and Elizabeth Baldwin.
A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at Carstens Mill in Brillion on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A time of remembrance will take place at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Eastshore Humane Association, P.O. Box 320, Chilton, WI 53014 in David’s name.
