June A. Shimon, age 84, a Reedsville resident, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2021, at Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc.
She was born June 6th, 1936 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Aloysius and Adaline Ciha. June graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. She pursued studies to become a LPN at the Milwaukee Technical Institute. She married Edward J. Shimon Jr. on October 5th, 1963 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on November 4th, 1976.
June worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee. Later in life she worked as a CNA at Chilton Health and Rehab. June enjoyed and spent much of her daytime hours gardening, pruning her many raspberry plants, cooking, canning vegetables, sewing, and listening to the voices of Cubs, Harry Caray and Ron Santo, as they narrated her precious Cubs games. June was active in the Lions Club and in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving several years as president.
June is survived by her brother: Loyd (Virgene) Ciha; four children: Mark (Kim) Shimon (Milwaukee), Brian Shimon (Sussex), Kathy (Bruce) Treadway (Woodstock, IL), Edward (Jenny) J. Shimon III (Peoria, IL); seven grandchildren: Nathan, Daniel, Anika, Alex, David, Theo, and Edward.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Aloysius & Adaline Ciha; her husband: Edward J. Shimon, Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial for June will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Holy Family Parish, 1100 W Ryan St., Brillion, WI 54110 with Rev. Tom Pomeroy and Rev. John Becker concelebrating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the parish from 9:00a.m.-10:45a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Reedsville, WI.
