OBITUARY: Lorraine A Loose

Lorraine A Loose, age 87, died peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Century Ridge.

She was born April 16, 1933, the daughter of the late Albert and Edna (Piepenburg) Haberland.

Lorraine was a graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. As a young woman, she worked for Pranges where she learned the retail business and greeted customers with a warm smile and kind ‘Hello.’ She married Ronald Loose in 1956, and the couple worked side-by-side running the family farm until 1980, when they bought the Loose Bar. As a social butterfly, this endeavor served her well so she could be around people to share stories, create memories and laugh a lot.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul where she was also an active member of the Ladies Aid. Her faith was strong and loved to proclaim that through singing both in church, and at nursing homes and assisted living centers through the area.

Always keeping busy, Lorraine was constantly occupying her hands with something; knitting, crocheting, word searches or tenderly caring for her garden just to name a few. She had an appreciation to dress nicely and looked forward to shopping for her wardrobe. She also never passed up a good round of Sheepshead with her family and friends. One of Lorraine’s favorite passions was to travel with family and friends. She has many photo albums of her travels around the world and enjoyed going through them to recall the trip when she longer was able to travel.

Although Lorraine created many long lasting memories with many people, nothing brought her more joy than creating memories with those she loved the most, her family. She had the softest heart and an uncanny ability to make everyone around her feel special. She had a passion for being in their presence and enjoyed every moment of life that was given to her.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Chris (Bob) Burnside, Berry (Laura) Loose, Pickle (Shari) Loose, Dot Turek, Tracy Wolf, Boone Geske and Tom Geske; step-children: Donnie (Lynn) Behnke, Dale (Anita) Behnke, Darlene (Mark) Propson, Nancy (Richard) Baumgartner. 16 grandchildren: Kelli (Josh) Sohn-Loose, Jason Loose, Matt (Amy) Loose, Melissa (Al) Turek- Fleischman, James W. Turek, and Holly, Sarah (Patrick) Kempson, Emily (Brandon) Bancroft, Adam Loose and Alex Wolf, Angela (Jason) Miller Annette (Keith) Mrozyaski, Mike ((Lacey) Behnke, Erin (Brandon) Conrad, Derek (Kim) Behnke, Briana Propson; and God-child, Heidi Propson; and 20 great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews: Pat (Bob) Loose, Diane and David Haese; and many more that called her Mom.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; and her parents; her sister, Delores (Gene) Prostek; son-in-law, Jim Turek; father-in-law, George Loose; mother-in-law, Dorothy (Norman) Rohrdanz; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Eleanore Geske, Eugene and Lucille Loose, Floyd and Margaret Loose; and step-sister and brother-in-law: Marion and Eldred Totzke.

Lorraine’s family would like to express their special thanks to Calumet County Hospice, especially Holly, Gloria and Anna for their compassion and care. They would also like to thank the staff Century Ridge, Jamie, Erica, Marsha and Sue, who cared for mom during this trying and frustrating time of COVID.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, November 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul, N6080 West River Road, Hilbert, with Rev. Brett Simek officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) Chilton on Thursday, November 5, from 5 until 7 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10 until 11:45 a.m.
