Obituary: Mrs. Caroline Elizabeth Binstock

Mrs. Caroline Elizabeth Binstock, 83, of Newnan, GA (formerly of Pemberton, MN and Eden, Wi), passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 in the comfort of her home with her husband and family surrounded. She was born February 10,1941 in Sherwood, WI to the late Leander & Dorthy Theil Schmidt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Scott Binstock, brothers Lee Schmidt, Lyle Schmidt and sister Judy Zastrow.

Caroline grew up around the Sherwood, WI area and was a 1960 graduate of Hilbert High School. She also attended the Accredited School of Beauty Culture and graduated with a diploma in 1961. She worked for a period of time as a hairdresser until she married Merlin Binstock and they started their family having four children. Later, she worked mostly in retail, working her way into management. After retirement, she moved to Newnan, GA, to be closer to new grandchildren and warmer temperatures. She was a member of the St. Matthew Church in Tyrone, GA.

She enjoyed gardening and her crafts, was quite an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved them as babies and could not say no to their sweet faces - never sure who had who wrapped around their fingers. She was always up for a trip to travel to a new place with friends or family. Give her a polka and she could not resist a dance floor. She had a spit-fire attitude larger than her vertically challenged frame. She was passionate about her faith and trusted our God to lead her through.

The funeral is Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 215 Kirkley Road, Tyrone, GA 30290. Visitation is Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. and the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263.
