Nola Jean Edwards, age 76, formerly of Brillion, currently of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Nola was the epitome of kindness and caring for others and her loving presence will be forever missed by her friends and family. Nola was born on September 17, 1943 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Edgar and Mildred (Bidwell) Bacon. She was a graduate of Adams-Friendship High School, class of 1961. Nola went on to further her education at UW-Stevens Point to become a teacher. She taught in the Brillion Public School district until her retirement in 1999. On April 9, 1966 she married Richard Edwards at White Creek Congregational Church, White Creek, WI. Nola was very involved with her church, with 4-H, enjoyed reading, watching the Green Bay Packers, quilting, playing the piano, cooking, gardening, watching birds, playing cribbage, and doing puzzles. Her favorite board game was Scrabble and loved it when she could talk her children or grandchildren into playing with her. She especially loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Nola is survived by her husband Richard Edwards of Sheboygan; her children: Alan Edwards of Sheboygan and Lisa (Andrew) Shamburek of Oconto Falls; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Evan) Carlson, Morgan, Allison, and Sam Edwards, and Andrea, Faith, and Grace Shamburek; one brother and sister-in-law: Gary (Joann) Bacon of Adams, WI; one sister: Janis Rhinehart of Adams, WI.; a brother-in-law: Edwin Burdick and a sister-in-law: Ida Mae Bacon. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Edgar and Mildred Bacon; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lloyd and Delores Edwards; two brothers: Kent and Billy Bacon; one sister, Marilyn Burdick; a brother-in-law: Bud Rhinehart; and one granddaughter, Ellie Shamburek.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Peace Ev. And Reformed Church, 181 Main Street in Potter, Wisconsin 54160. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod. Nola has been cremated, and her cremated remains will be buried later that afternoon in Adams, WI. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Please note the church will have COVID19 safe distancing guidelines and other restrictions in place, and space may be limited for the 11 a.m. service. Face masks will be optional but not provided, so please bring one if you wish to wear one while inside the church. Online condolences may be made.
