Obituary: Phyllis Jeanne (Bee) Getter

Phyllis Jeanne (Bee) Getter age 87 died on June 11 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton.


Phyllis was born on July 9, 1935 in Viola, WI. She was the daughter of John and Veda (Hoke) Bee. She attended Tock School for 8 years and graduated from Viola High School in May of 1953. On June 16, 1953 she married LaVerne Getter at the Church of Christ, Viroqua, WI. After her four children were in school, she worked for Leverenz Shoe Factory in Valders and along with her husband ran a dairy farm in the Collins area. After retirement they moved to Lake Winnebago where she made her famous applesauce for her grandchildren from trees on their property. After moving to Brillion, she enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together & spending time with family & friends.

Survivors include her children, Keary & J’Ette Getter of Whitelaw, Michael & Germaine Getter of Manitowoc, Judy & Randy Nicklaus of Brillion, Susan & Richard Krejcarek of Tomahawk, 8 grandchildren & spouses, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Donna Getter and Charlotte Getter. Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends also survived. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, her parents, John & Veda Bee, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence & Jessie (Jacobs) Getter, 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, LaWan (Earl) Todd, Charlene (Floyd) Perkins, 2 brothers & sisters-in-law, Verlin (Alma) Bee and Merlin (Ruth) Bee, 3 brothers-in-law, Norman Getter, Wayne Getter, Carroll Kepler, sister-in-law, Evelyn (Getter) Kepler, one great grandchild, Austin Getter.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 at Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Joe Weiers with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. The family will greet relatives and friends at Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
