Obituary: Randal R. Hooyman

Randal R. Hooyman passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday afternoon, October 2, 2024, after a 14 year battle with prostate cancer.

Randy was born on April 11, 1957 in Appleton, WI son of Therese (Coppus) Hooyman and the late Robert Hooyman. He was a graduate of Kimberly High School.  Randy served in the United States Army National Guard for 7 years. He completed technical training sponsored by Pierce Manufacturing and was employed there as a Manufacturing Engineer for 44 years. In 1978 he married Catherine Nett and together they had 4 children. On May 31, 2002 he married his wife Pamella in Greenville, WI.

Randy enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family, along with a large circle of friends.  He loved gardening, woodworking, hunting with his good friends Lenny, Paul and Paul’s sons, Nick and Casey, and taking country rides on Harley motorcycles with his brother in law, Kim.  He also enjoyed volunteering at church, and enjoyed attending and supporting his grandchildren at all of their events. Randy’s favorite adventures were traveling with his wife Pamella, especially to Vermont and the mountains of Colorado.

Randy had a high regard for family bonds and even though at times his feelings went unspoken he wanted it to be known how much he truly loved his entire family and appreciated all of those, family and friends alike, that supported him and shared in his journey through life.

Survivors include his wife: Pamella Hooyman; his children: Jill (Bryan) Heule, Russell (Melanie) Hooyman, Marshall (Ashley) Hooyman, and Pamella’s daughter Ginger (Doug) Diemel; his grandchildren: Isaiah, Connor, Madison, Faith, Annika, Calla; his mother: Therese Hooyman; and his sisters: Diane (John) Burmeister, Sharon (Jim) Verkuilen, Char (Werny) Heyndrickx, Debbie (Jeff) Dercks, Gayle (Rick) Peters and Vickie (Paul) Brihn. Many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Celeste; his father: Robert Hooyman; and his brother: Roger Hooyman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Christ the Rock Church (W6254 US Highway 10, Menasha, WI. 54952). Officiating at the service will be Rev. Peter Leschke, Rev. Lynn Kollath, Rev. David Uden and Rev. Joe Weiers. Military honors will be accorded. Burial will take place at Brillion Community Cemetery at a later date.
