Obituary: Robert G. “Bob” Benzschawel, Jr.

Robert G. “Bob” Benzschawel, Jr. age 68, of the Town of Brothertown, left his earthly home on Thursday, September 8, 2022 and entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior. Bob was born April 24, 1954 in Green Bay, WI. Son of the late Robert & Florence (Lukaszewski) Benzschawel, Sr.  He married Penny Glaser on August 24, 1991 in Brillion, Wisconsin.

Bob graduated from Brillion High School in 1972. After entering the work force out of high school, Bob later found a home with Endries International where he worked for over 30 years. As a sales professional he helped provide fasteners and maintenance supplies for manufactures. After retiring from Endries Bob took on part-time work at Piggly Wiggly in New Holstein.

Bob was a member of Faith Alliance Church in Chilton, where he sang with his men’s group, “Standing Firm”, for over 20 years. Singing was his passion and the group used their platform to bring the promises of God’s salvation to those in church and in the community. Along with singing, Bob enjoyed playing his guitar and writing music.

Motorcycling was Bob’s favorite hobby. He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and helped establish their local Appleton chapter, Exodus Riders. Bob and Penny were also part of their church riding group, One Way Riders. He truly enjoyed the times spent with church family riding together.

In his time at home, Bob loved being with his family, spending time outdoors around a campfire or cutting and splitting wood to heat the home. Bob cherished his children and grandchildren and took every opportunity to share Christ’s love for each of them. He was a true man of God and prayed diligently for each one of them by name daily. His greatest desire is for each one of them to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Bob looked at every day, every job, church service, motorcycle ride, shopping trip or doctors visit as an opportunity to reach someone for Christ. He never let a day go by without sharing the love of Christ and the salvation Christ provides with everyone that he came into contact with. If you have ever had the opportunity to meet Bob you can be sure you would hear of Christ's love for you and the salvation that Christ offers through a story and a single penny. If you would like to know more about the penny and it’s meaning, come to the service.

Bob emulated Jesus Christ in all he did.

A special thank you to Wayne “Bud” Wieting for his selfless gift to Bob. Bud donated a kidney to Bob on March 7, 2018 giving Bob 4 ½ more years of life to share with his family. We will be forever grateful for this. We love you Bud and Barb.

Bob is survived by his wife: Penny; his children: Tara (Sal) Longo, Eric (Sara) Benzschawel, Kate Benzschawel; 5 grandchildren: Bryson & Addison Longo, Olivia, Nora & Lily Benzschawel; and his siblings: Kathie (Nick) Kesler, Carol (Jerome) Popp, Pat (Kerry) Kuehl, Jean (Tom) Roehrig, and Joan (Steve) Texmunt. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Robert & Florence Benzschawel and Godson Sam Kuehl.

Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Faith Alliance Church (468 N. State St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jim Jensen officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 pm until 3:45 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
