Roland F. "Rollie" Griepentrog, age 86, of rural Reedsville, peacefully entered eternal life on Sunday morning, July 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Rollie was born in the town of Morrison on July 4th, 1936 to Norbert and Helen (Eichhorst) Griepentrog. Rollie was a faithful, lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside where he was baptized and confirmed. He also served on numerous church committees throughout the years. He attended grade school at Zion and graduated with the class of '54 from Reedsville High School. Rollie entered the U.S. Army in 1954 and proudly served his country as a military policeman during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in November, 1956.
On September 13, 1958, he was united in marriage to Bernice E. Weber, beginning a loving journey walking hand in hand for 63 years. The couple was blessed with four children. Over the years, alongside his regular employment, Roland was a dedicated school bus driver for 28 years, enjoying safely transporting kids in the Reedsville and Manitowoc School Districts to many school functions and sporting events.
Faith and family was always first and foremost to Rollie. He always looked forward to the annual deer hunting trips to the cabin with his boys. He proudly supported his beloved kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids in countless sporting events, school activities, and dance recitals. Grandpa was their biggest fan! Dad loved all family gatherings and treasured times spent together.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; four children: Randy (Diane) Griepentrog of Whitelaw, Julie (Bill) Malliett of Reedsville, Ellen (Paul) Brandt of Reedsville, Dan (Susie) Griepentrog of Cato; six grandchildren: Craig (Dana) Griepentrog, Amanda Torres, Michael Brandt, Gabrielle Brandt, Nate Griepentrog, and Shane Griepentrog; along with three great-grandchildren: Hudson & Olive Griepentrog, and Lexie Torres. He is further survived by one brother, two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law: Glenn (Doris) Griepentrog, Eunice (Ray) Krueger, all of Manitowoc; many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Helen Griepentrog; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Wencel and Rose Weber; his sister, Dorothy Piepenburg-VanderZanden; a brother, Roy Griepentrog; in-laws: Wallace (Pike) Piepenburg, Ione Griepentrog-Menne, John VanderZanden, Donnie (Pat) Weber; Amanda's husband, Peter Torres; and nephews: Steve Griepentrog and Jerry Weber.
Funeral services will be held at 12 o'clock Noon on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside located at 8378 County W, Greenleaf. Rev. Kyle Wangelin and Rev. Austen Welter will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside honors will be accorded by members of the Reedsville Amvets Post #1032.
