Sandra K. Horswill, age 58, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 17, 2020. She was born August 30, 1961, daughter of the late Norbert “Mike” and Carmen Brandenburg.
Sandy enjoyed her free time, taking pleasure in camping, tending to her flowers and plants and catching Vic Ferrari whenever she could. She will be remembered for her dance moves of lips out and fingers pointed toward the sky when a good song would come on. Christmas was her favorite holiday which she made into a huge occasion by decorating her and Ric's house every year with all the snowmen she could find and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She was also an excellent baker, specializing in chocolate eclair torte or making an entire pan of brownies for each of her grandchildren. More than anything else, Sandy loved her family and enjoyed every moment with them. Sandy was lovingly called “Grandma Cow” by her grandchildren, and they were her world. Even when they could not be together, she would FaceTime with them just to hear their voices and see their faces. Sandy is survived by her fiancé, Ric Christel; daughters: Beth Brandenburg, Kelly Mittag (Deandre Howard), Shannon (Jason) Abrams, Emily (Mitchell) Berg, and Brenda Boehnlein; Ric’s children: Joe Christel, Amanda (Chris) Barth, and Richard (Amber) Christel; eleven grandchildren: Jacob, Kyra, Ava, Raeauna, Gabriella, Sophia, McKenna, Liliana, Gavin, Aria, and Presley; Ric's grandchildren; sisters: Linda (Joe) Hanke, Deb Mittag (Steven), and Carla (Gary) Hess; brothers: David Brandenburg, Jeffrey Brandenburg, and Peter Brandenburg; special friends: Sue and Al Smet; she is further survived by nieces, nephews, and friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert “Mike” and Carmen; a granddaughter: Maliyah Morehouse; Ric’s grandson: Jack Christel; infant siblings: Brenda, Bruce and Paul. She was further preceded by grandparents, aunts, and uncles. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00am on Monday, August 24, 2020, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home on Sunday, August 23, and again on Monday from 9:00am until 11:00am. There will be an opportunity for friends and family to share stories of Sandy during the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital doctors and nurses, especially Nurse Cheryl. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Sandra Horswill.
