Obituary: Sarah E. Sloma

Sarah E. Sloma, age 82, formerly of Brillion, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with many struggles in her life and with her health. She found peace and entered God’s loving arms on Monday morning, February 26, 2024 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton.

 




Sarah was born on August 3, 1941 in Maple Grove, WI, daughter of the late Thomas and Julia Cavanaugh. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School. On May 7, 1960 she married Gerald V. Sloma. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2020. Sarah began her career working at Brillion Iron Works and later became a Nurse’s Assistant and worked at various care facilities in the area. She was very active in her first 55 years of life. She loved hunting, sturgeon spearing and fishing out of Two Rivers on the big lake. Sarah also had a love of flowers which she planted around their home and getaway mobile home in Two Rivers. Later in life, Sarah had many medical issues that took a great toll on her. Her pride and joy in life revolved around her family, her home, and being a proud member of the Oneida Tribe.

 

Survivors include one son: Robin Sloma (special friend Jean Klug), Brillion; one daughter: Sandra Sengbush, Appleton; one granddaughter: Sierra; many great grandchildren; her siblings: Francis Cavanaugh, Larry (Sandy) Cavanaugh, Julia (Bob) Stedl, Barb (Gary) Borchardt, Jeff & Mike Cavanaugh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Patricia Schuh, John (Carol) Sloma, Jim (Shelby) Sloma. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons: Mark & Bruce Sloma; one daughter: Kimberly (Rick) Lorenz; one sister: Annie (Ken) Menting; brother-in-law: Tony Schuh; sisters-in-law: Jeannie Cavanaugh, Evie Stetson; and her faithful companion: Marbles.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Pomeroy.

 

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, March 4, 2024 at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
