REEDSVILLE - For the third consecutive season, the Reedsville boys basketball team won a regional championship.
The Panthers blew out Florence 88-58 in the regional final on Saturday night. Reedsville opened the game with a 15-2 lead. Ben Prochnow scored 33 points with 12 assists. Logan Maertz scored 14.
The final game followed two dominant victories earlier in the week. The Panthers beat Valley Christian 95-51 in the quarterfinal on Tuesday and Goodman/Pembine 94-59 in the semifinal on Friday.
The celebration was two-fold on Saturday night. Senior Camden Dvorachek, who came back from injury for the playoffs, eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring mark for his career. Dvorachek joined his brothers Braiden and Brennen (Reedsville's all-time leading scorer), who also surpassed 1,000 points in their Reedsville careers.
Dvorachek scored 18 points against Florence to go with 10 rebounds and nine assists.
Next up the No. 1 Panthers will meet No. 2 Lourdes Academy at Pulaski High School on Thursday, March 7, in the sectional semifinal.
Other scores
No. 3 Brillion came up short in the regional final at No. 2 Xavier on Saturday night in a 76-63 loss. The Lions had beaten No. 6 Wrightstown 64-49 on Friday night.
Brillion High School will be the host site on Wednesday, March 6, for the sectional semifinal between No. 1 Kiel and No. 2 Xavier.
Hilbert lost in the regional quarterfinal on Tuesday night in a tight 59-57 game to Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy.
